We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Biologist to join the team of a growing environmental consulting firm on an on-call basis. As an On-Call Field Biologist, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, collecting data, and assisting with various research projects as needed. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the US, with occasional travel to field sites as required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys to assess wildlife populations, habitat conditions, and environmental impacts.
- Collect and analyze biological data using a variety of scientific techniques and equipment.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and management of ecological research projects.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and publications summarizing research findings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists, conservationists, and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on relevant scientific literature, methodologies, and best practices in the field of biology.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience conducting fieldwork and ecological research in diverse environments.
- Strong knowledge of ecological principles, species identification, and field survey techniques.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation using statistical software.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated, independent thinker with the ability to work effectively in remote locations and under challenging conditions.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to field sites for short-term assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with endangered species, conservation biology, or restoration ecology.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies.
- Previous experience working in remote or international settings.
