Network Construction Manager
Location: Indonesia
Position Overview: The Network Construction Manager is a full-time role within the Connectivity team, reporting to the Director of Operations. The primary responsibility is leading the construction and operation of terrestrial dark fibre networks, with potential expansion into subsea-specific projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead local management of underground network infrastructure for terrestrial and subsea network cables.
- Manage local contractors, overseeing Moves, Adds, Changes, and Decommissioning activities.
- Act as the lead representative on-site to ensure effective engagement with construction teams and Data Centre operations staff.
- Support the GIS/Data team in maintaining accurate network records and updating as-built data.
- Produce and manage project activities, including budgets, resources, and deadlines.
- Deliver high-quality reporting with recommendations for business decisions.
- Work alongside the Service Delivery team to deliver client services.
- Supervise and organize maintenance and operations of the network, including emergency maintenance activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in Layer 1 infrastructure construction and management.
- Knowledge of working with and commissioning Dark Fibre networks, including Inside Plant and Outside Plant equipment and fibre splicing/jointing methodologies.
- Experience in managing contractors and other carriers within defined project budgets and scopes.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously and remotely to agreed objectives.
- Ability to promptly and accurately update network information, including validating as-builts (plans and photographs).
- Experience working to Layer 1 industry best practices, including working in 3rd party MMRs, slack management, connector hygiene, labelling, and component handling.
Desirable Requirements:
- Training in fibre network testing (e.g., OTDR and OSA).
- Experience working within Indonesia.
- Effective communication skills and fluency in Bahasa.
- Training and qualifications in Project Management.
- Training on using fibre-optic testing tools (such as OTDR, OSA, power meter, fibre scope).
- Experience with AutoCAD and MS Project.
- Experience with managing and re-ordering spare equipment and components.
