Lead Consultant for Environmental Due Diligence
We are seeking a highly experienced consultant with over 20 years in business development and technical project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong reputation in the industry for delivering top-notch services at both regional and national levels, with a proven ability to attract and develop new clients. The successful candidate will be familiar with a "seller/doer" approach, possess strong business development skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage and develop a team. This individual must work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, be proficient in analyzing and communicating information, and collaborate with various agencies, organizations, and individuals to guide decision-making. Ideally, this position will be based in Chicago, IL, but other major market locations may be considered.
Role Overview:
This role involves a variety of multi-disciplinary consulting skills, focusing primarily on environmental due diligence and risk for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and real estate development transactions, as well as environmental compliance support and site investigation/remediation. Responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of new business opportunities and presentations to create and nurture client partnerships.
- Acting as a key contact for clients and managing proposals and project teams for mid-sized to large-scale opportunities.
- Negotiating project scope, tasks, budget, and schedule with clients.
- Delegating and overseeing the work of junior and senior staff, providing mentoring and training to complete due diligence, compliance support, and site investigation assignments.
- Serving as a Trusted Advisor for all project facets, providing technical assistance to project teams, and ensuring effective communication with clients, internal resources, and other stakeholders.
- Overseeing technical evaluations and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- BS and/or advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, or a related field with at least 20 years of client and project management experience in environmental consulting.
- PE or PG certification is a plus.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently.
- Ability to interact and negotiate productively with regulatory personnel and clients.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, administration, and staff development abilities.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships as a Trusted Advisor.
- Willingness and ability to develop business from new and existing clients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge and compliance expertise.
- Commitment to promoting a safety-first culture.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
