An environmental consulting firm is seeking a mid-level Geologist or Hydrogeologist to join their team in Kailua, Hawaii. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a technical team of geologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts.
- Participate in and lead field efforts; collect, manage, and analyze data.
- Author reports and develop presentations.
- Manage tasks and interact with clients.
- Grow service offerings and client base.
- Develop and implement technical work plans.
- Lead and participate in field programs and quantitative studies.
- Provide subject matter expertise to project managers on various projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field.
- 5 - 10 years of experience in geology and hydrogeology.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Hawaii-specific hydrologic, geologic, and groundwater quality datasets.
- Knowledge of Hawaii-specific groundwater and well regulations.
- Familiarity with Hawaii-specific permitting requirements.
- Experience with well-siting, design, and rehabilitation.
- Proficiency in drilling oversight, logging, and soil/groundwater sampling.
- Ability to work independently on technical tasks.
- Willingness to travel to project sites or meetings, including field activities lasting up to one consecutive week.
- Enthusiasm for developing science-based, sustainable, and economic solutions to water resources/environmental challenges.
- Experience with project and/or task management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related field.
- Professional registration as a state or national-level geologist or hydrogeologist.
- Experience in conducting aquifer testing campaigns.
- Proficiency in analyzing geophysical logs.
- Experience with geologic modeling software.
- Skills in data analysis/manipulation, ideally with a scripting language such as Python or R.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certificate.
