Position Summary
Assist the project manager and senior mechanical engineers in designing HVAC systems for various clients. Work with the design team and Project Manager to meet project goals efficiently. This hybrid role requires at least 3 days per week in Voorhees, NJ office.
Responsibilities
- Design energy-efficient HVAC and mechanical systems according to client requirements.
- Perform load calculations and energy modeling using software like eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, and Carrier HAP.
- Regularly review projects to ensure compliance with departmental standards, client requirements, and budget constraints.
- Use Revit to design, layout, and verify mechanical and HVAC drawings for technical accuracy, adhering to relevant standards and codes.
- Coordinate with facility owners and architects, ensuring high levels of responsiveness and communication.
- Review shop drawings and manage construction administration.
- Guide less experienced Engineers in Training on projects.
- Conduct site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and provide field construction support as needed.
- Implement training development with Project Engineer, other engineers, designers, and draftspersons.
- Assist the PM/Project Engineer in proposal development, client management, and overall project execution.
Requirements
- Knowledge of local, state, and national code requirements (NFPA, Joint Meeting).
- Experience with load analysis and energy modeling software (eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, Carrier HAP).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus.
- Strong time management skills, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
- Effective collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent in-person communication skills for conveying complex ideas, strong technical writing, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in English.
Education and Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in designing mechanical/HVAC systems for critical care and/or laboratory facilities.
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred or working towards licensure.
