The Role:
Job Summary: We are seeking a mid-level MEP professional to join our team as a Mechanical Designer/Project Manager. This role, based in Jersey City or NYC, is ideal for candidates experienced in the built environment and eager to grow in project management and mechanical engineering. The position involves managing designs, performing site visits, and delivering high-quality project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct site visits to inspect existing conditions, perform field testing, and document findings.
Prepare detailed reports with recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
Oversee project timelines and ensure adherence to schedules.
Collaborate with CAD teams to produce design documents (AutoCAD experience not required).
Manage internal and external communications with clients and contractors.
Ensure compliance with codes and standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead project kickoff, milestone, and closeout meetings.
Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
Stay updated on industry trends and represent the company at networking events.
Technical Expertise:
Perform calculations, create designs, and review technical specifications.
Conduct peer reviews and oversee testing activities.
Prepare expert and field reports based on site inspections and analyses.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in mechanical consulting and design.
Proficient in HVAC systems, including load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace or Carrier HAP).
Familiarity with mechanical systems such as chillers, boilers, and piping systems.
Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits.
