A leading MEP firm is on the lookout for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with exceptional technical, communication, and leadership abilities. This role involves not only engaging with exciting projects and clients but also leading the mechanical department in their Pittsburgh office. The Department Head will manage the team's workload while independently handling multiple concurrent projects, both in design and construction, and preparing contract documents and specifications for complex building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train, support, and mentor team members.
- Coordinate the mechanical team's workload.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen client relationships as a key contact.
- Provide technical expertise in various HVAC systems.
- Independently perform calculations and develop full designs for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, including equipment selection for projects of all scales.
- Write specifications and ensure their coordination with other disciplines.
- Collaborate with code officials and other design professionals for building code interpretations or exceptions.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the construction process, review shop drawings, and address questions during construction.
- Conduct system analysis and comparisons considering economic and functional factors.
- Produce due diligence and feasibility studies to support client requirements for systems of varying complexity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the HVAC design field.
- PE registration required.
- Proficiency in CAD; Revit preferred.
- Strong understanding of relevant codes and LEED requirements.
