Position Title: Manager, Microgrid Project Development
Location: Arlington, TX (Hybrid)

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Manager of Microgrid Project Development to lead the development of innovative, utility-scale microgrid projects. The role will focus on designing, implementing, and managing microgrid infrastructure that supports a diverse range of clients, from industrial to commercial sectors. The Manager will oversee all aspects of project development, from early-stage planning and site selection to ensuring successful project execution and construction. This position is critical in advancing the clean energy transition by delivering resilient, sustainable, and efficient energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the development of microgrid projects, including planning, site identification, land acquisition, permitting, and utility interconnection.
- Oversee project development from concept to construction commencement, ensuring projects meet all technical, financial, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, legal, finance, construction) and external stakeholders (customers, utilities, consultants, etc.) to advance projects through all phases of development.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and permitting strategies for microgrid systems.
- Guide the interconnection process for microgrids, ensuring compliance with utility requirements and addressing any grid integration challenges.
- Coordinate and manage the delivery of environmental studies, surveys, and technical reports related to microgrid development.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop high-level technical documents, including service plans, design specifications, and system integration strategies.
- Lead permitting efforts for microgrid projects, including attending public hearings and navigating local, state, and federal permitting processes.
- Facilitate communication and decision-making among project stakeholders, ensuring alignment and addressing potential challenges or risks.
- Provide technical guidance on microgrid technologies, including energy storage, distributed energy resources (DERs), and renewable energy systems.
- Work with construction management teams on contractor selection, project design, and the securing of additional necessary permits.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure that all phases of development remain within scope and on time.
- Ensure that project developments are aligned with sustainability and resiliency goals for clients and stakeholders.
- Assist with project financing, including answering diligence questions and providing required documentation for funding.
- Prepare and present project updates to internal teams and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
- At least 10 years of project management or development experience, with a focus on microgrids, distributed energy resources (DERs), or utility-scale electrical infrastructure.
- Expertise in microgrid technologies, including energy storage, renewable generation (solar, wind), and grid integration.
- Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, project management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of microgrid projects from conception to construction.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive knowledge of microgrid design, development, and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with the utility interconnection process for microgrids and understanding of relevant grid codes and standards.
- Experience in permitting microgrid projects at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and present technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
- A self-starter with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Willingness to travel 25-50% of the time to project sites and other company locations.
Additional Desired Experience:
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration in microgrid systems, including hybrid generation models.
- Experience with both behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter microgrid solutions.
- Knowledge of advanced energy storage systems and their application in microgrid environments.
- Familiarity with energy modeling and simulation tools for microgrid design and optimization.
- Experience using CRM systems and developing metrics to track project performance.
