Job Description: As a Lead Substation Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design and engineering of electrical substations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive design plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering efforts for electrical substations, from conceptualization to execution.
- Review and produce physical design drawings, including General Arrangement, Elevations and equipment connection Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control Building Layout and Details, Foundation Plan and Details, and developing material lists.
- Perform studies and calculations to properly design substations, including grounding calculations, lightning protection calculations, battery bank sizing calculations, conduit fill calculations, and substation sizing calculations, as well as perform AC & DC substation studies.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met within scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
- Perform quality assurance checks and reviews to maintain design integrity and adherence to standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve design processes and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in substation design and engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and design tools.
