A leading engineering services firm is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join their renewables team. In this role, you'll be tasked with designing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Day to day could include plant layout, selecting appropriate system hardware, system optimization, determining power generation and interconnection requirements, and being the client and internal leader for the electrical engineering of projects. You'll work with the Director, of Electrical Engineering to maintain firm standards and consistency as well as oversee other electrical designers. This position may also include supervision responsibilities of direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale solar projects, ensuring the electrical design budget is managed effectively.
- Handle the contractual electrical engineering scope, verify its integration into the design, and coordinate change orders with the project manager.
- Ensure project deliverable schedules for electrical engineering are met.
- Assist project managers in responding to RFPs by preparing proposal scopes and fees for electrical engineering.
- Coordinate with other project disciplines, including civil engineers, geotechnical/structural engineers, and surveyors.
- Plan and schedule the necessary resources to support projects on a weekly basis.
- Lead the electrical engineering design and creation of construction documents for projects, serving as the primary electrical contact for clients.
- Supervise the project electrical team, ensuring staff perform electrical calculations and studies such as short circuit, load flow calculations, and voltage drop.
- Liaise with clients, utilities, and code enforcement officers.
- Conduct QA/QC of design work for projects where you are the lead electrical engineer.
- Stay informed about current equipment and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with and support electrical engineering teams in other offices as needed.
- Support project construction by responding to contractor and owner requests, including RFIs and submittal reviews.
- Assist Market Directors with marketing efforts and the creation of marketing materials related to electrical engineering work.
- Supervise, train, and mentor graduate engineers, staff engineers, and design technicians.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering.
- Familiarity with NEC and NESC.
- Proficiency in using electrical power system modeling programs.
- Approximately 4-10 years of experience in designing electrical distribution, generation, or general electrical construction.
- Ability to read and create construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Professional appearance with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical reports with minimal oversight.
- Experience in writing proposals, managing project budgets, invoices, change orders, progress reports, and communicating project requirements to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a supportive team member.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines without supervision.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD.
Preferred Experience
- Experience and knowledge in the design and construction of utility-scale PV and/or wind plants.
- NABCEP Certification.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Electrical PE License or eligibility for licensure in multiple states.
- Experience with energy storage systems, such as batteries, flywheels, or capacitors.
- Proficiency in using ETAP, CYMCAP, WinIGS, and/or DigSilent PowerFactory for modeling electrical power systems and conducting load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, grounding, thermal, and protective device coordination studies and analyses.
- Experience with PV production modeling software like PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM, or similar.
- Experience with PV site layout software such as Helios 3D, PVcase, RatedPower, SolarFarmer, or similar.
- Experience with transient/dynamic modeling and studies of power systems using software like PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP, or similar.
