- (Professional Land Surveyor) PLS in California is preferred, but not required.
- Allocates, organizes, and assigns tasks within the survey team to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of personnel to meet deadlines.
- Discovers, suggests, implements, and develops methods for staff productivity and efficiency.
- Guides and supports staff with company policies, procedures, and techniques.
- Participates in meetings for coordination and scheduling of tasks with all departments.
- Drafts proposals for projects and handles subsequent project management duties.
- Understands project requirements and communicates these to support staff.
- Tracks and manages project budgets and productivity.
- Exhibits creativity, foresight, and sound surveying judgement in predicting and resolving issues.
- Establishes standards and guidelines.
- Plans and executes improvements for the surveying department, both short-term and long-term.
- Considers and applies appropriate suggestions from support staff.
- Involves in the hiring, training, and development of new surveyors.
- Keeps records of survey personnel performance and provides written and verbal reports.
- Offers training opportunities to ensure staff stays current with industry and company standards.
- Manages and performs surveying tasks within company and industry standards using computers for drafting and document preparation.
- Produces accurate, complete, and value-added work products and performs complex survey calculations.
- Ensures timely document delivery by completing tasks on or ahead of schedule and understands how activities relate to overall project status.
- Manages construction-staking calculations.
- Coordinates construction staking schedules with general contractors and maintains positive client relationships.
- Reviews and evaluates the work of survey crews.
- Develops and enforces field codes and data collection methods.
- Prepares cut sheets for field crews.
- Interprets design plans for construction staking calculations, identifies discrepancies and conflicts, and coordinates with engineering staff to ensure proper interpretation.
- Understands tolerances and accuracy requirements for projects.
- Maintains both digital and physical filing systems.
- Reviews title reports and legal descriptions.
