The Role
As an Intermediate Building Science Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing building science projects. Working independently, you will oversee a variety of tasks, including some building condition assessments, construction administration, and reserve fund studies. You'll have the opportunity to mentor a junior associate and receive guidance from senior specialists, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely, with the potential to establish a local office as the business grows. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage building science projects independently, with support from a junior associate and guidance from a senior specialist.
- Write and review reports, including capital planning and structural investigations.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior associates, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Contribute to the development of the company's culture and operational processes.
- Report to the Regional Director and receive guidance from senior team members.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in building science, with 5 years preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, or ability to gain.
- Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, including windows, walls, and other structural components.
- Excellent soft skills, including communication, teamwork, and client relationship management.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Experience in project management and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Familiarity with the local market and industry trends in Halifax and surrounding areas.
