Company Overview:
My client is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join their team and take a leadership role in overseeing structural design and engineering for a wide variety of multi-family, mixed-use construction projects. This role will involve managing an overseas team remotely from their NY office, overseeing design and engineering functions, and collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering with the ability to manage diverse teams and lead design initiatives.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the structural engineering team based in Cairo, Egypt, ensuring successful execution of all design and engineering projects.
- Work on a variety of new construction projects including high-rise, multi-family residential buildings, low-rise structures, and mixed-use developments, with a focus on structural systems such as steel, concrete, and wood.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure structural design aligns with the overall vision and meets safety, regulatory, and client requirements.
- Manage the design process for structural elements and systems, ensuring all designs are sound, cost-effective, and buildable.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and adherence to industry best practices.
- Coordinate with the structural PE and other members of the project team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of project documentation and compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Communicate effectively with both local and overseas teams to ensure smooth project execution and team collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required with approximately 10 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably with high-rise and multi-family residential experience.
- Expertise in the design of structural systems in steel, concrete, and wood.
- Experience with mixed-use and multi-family projects is a must, with familiarity in working on both high-rise and low-rise buildings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams effectively
- Strong knowledge of architectural design and ability to communicate effectively with architects and other design professionals.
- Proficient in structural engineering software and design tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
