About the Role
My client is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of R&D & Product to lead the commercialization of cutting-edge technologies in the advanced materials industry and beyond. This role is pivotal in ensuring the company remains at the forefront of materials science research while scaling up our core production technologies.
You'll work closely with senior management and technical teams, combining scientific expertise with strategic leadership to deliver impactful R&D outcomes aligned with market demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute detailed R&D plans and structures that align with company objectives.
- Conduct literature reviews and analyze key product and application trends.
- Lead R&D initiatives, including budget management and supervising team members.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for management on R&D activities and their commercial viability.
- Collaborate with suppliers, fabricators, and external laboratories to support R&D efforts.
- Liaise with certification bodies to ensure compliance and support ISO 9001 accreditation.
- Prepare technical product documentation for customer presentations.
- Continuously improve systems and processes that enhance business performance.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality policies, reporting any incidents or hazards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Master's degree or higher in engineering or science (PhD preferred).
- Proven experience in research and materials science, with hands-on R&D equipment expertise.
- Background in startups or small teams is highly regarded.
- Experience transitioning industrial products from R&D to market is an advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant research software (coding skills are a plus).
