Title: Graduate Mechanical Engineer
Location: Tampa, Florida
Summary
The Mechanical Engineer/Designer will utilize their professional and technical expertise to design mechanical engineering concepts and solutions that align with the owner's vision for each project. This role requires a solid understanding of the consulting engineering process and the associated contractual documents.
Responsibilities
- Determine the scope of assigned projects and utilize software programs to create mechanical engineering designs, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
- Develop cost-effective system layouts, determine quantities/sizes, and ensure designs comply with relevant codes.
- Prepare and layout BIM drawings, coordinating with all other disciplines throughout project phases, including schematic design, design development, permitting, and construction documents.
- Perform construction administration tasks, such as site observations, shop drawing reviews, and preparation of punch lists.
- Ensure project scope is accurately reflected in contract documents and proactively manage any scope variances to maintain client satisfaction and project timelines.
- Maintain strong business relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, owners, other design and construction professionals, and code officials regarding the overall engineering project and associated tasks.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- At least 1 year of experience in mechanical engineering design of commercial buildings preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience coordinating with multi-discipline engineering teams preferred.
- Experience with various project delivery methods, including design-build, design-bid-construct, and fast-track.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes, as well as laws, regulations, and potential liabilities affecting engineering practice.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP preferred, with familiarity in other engineering software programs.
- Strong technical/computer skills, including Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel), internet, and web applications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to clearly convey information, ideas, and concepts verbally, in writing, or graphically.
- Ability to prepare original specifications for project systems and components, and complete project manuals with sub-consultant specifications when serving as the prime professional.
- Technical knowledge and hands-on experience to evaluate various electrical engineering options for equipment and component configurations.
- Experience with cost containment and reduction strategies.
