Position Available: Branch Manager for Geotechnical and Construction Services
Location: Chesapeake, VA
About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced Branch Manager to oversee the operational and strategic functions of an office that delivers a range of engineering services: subsurface exploration, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and special inspection services. Our projects span the public and private sectors, covering infrastructure like buildings, bridges, roadways, retaining walls, underground utilities, dams, and other civil works. This role is ideal for someone eager to advance their management capabilities and lead a seasoned team of technical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Direct branch operations and manage key aspects such as Profit & Loss, business development, and annual planning.
- Support employee development and uphold high standards of quality and safety.
Project Oversight
- Ensure accurate scope, estimation, and proposal development for all services offered.
- Manage and improve quality control across branch construction and engineering projects.
Team Development
- Mentor and build a cohesive team by fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Communicate effectively with branch staff and leadership on goals, progress, and needs.
Business Development
- Lead efforts in developing profitable client relationships and upholding the branch's reputation for quality and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Materials/Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree in Business Administration is a plus.
- 8-15+ years of experience in Construction Materials Special Inspection, Testing, or Geotechnical Engineering, with a history of departmental or branch management.
- Licensed P.E. registration, with state-specific registration preferred within 3 months of hire.
- Proven experience in team leadership, with a focus on achieving ambitious goals and fostering employee growth.
- Local knowledge of business and industry practices is a plus.
