General Superintendent - Heavy Civil Construction Projects
Location: Portland, OR
Salary: $100,000- $185,000 + Bonus(s)
Position Overview:
They are a well-established general contractor specializing in heavy civil construction projects, seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Superintendent to oversee our large-scale construction projects in the Portland, OR area. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing heavy civil projects, including earthwork, roads, utilities, and other infrastructure developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Lead and supervise a team of field personnel, including foremen, laborers, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations on site.
- Monitor project progress, schedule, and budget; report updates to the project manager and stakeholders.
- Resolve issues and conflicts on site, ensuring that delays or disruptions are minimized.
- Review and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure materials and labor are on site as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities, inspections, and certifications.
Experience Needed:
- At least 7-10 years of experience in a superintendent or similar leadership role within heavy civil construction.
- Extensive experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects such as road construction, earthwork, utilities, and site development.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, schedules, and budgets.
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulations.
- Experience with construction scheduling software and project management tools.
Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred (but not required).
- OSHA 30-Hour certification (preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Proven track record of maintaining high safety standards and mitigating project risks.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel and stakeholders, including subcontractors, clients, and team members.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and regulations.
