Field Engineer/Field Coordinator
Location: Fredricks County, Maryland
Position Description: A prominent electrical contracting firm is seeking a Field Engineer/Coordinator to lead job-site health and safety, ensure quality reporting and workmanship, and complete all engineering work professionally and ethically. Reporting to a Project Manager, this role involves contract administration, project planning, scheduling, and reporting. The project involves the installation of a new substation, including both above-grade and below-grade installations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
- Review and analyze historical data for project preparation
- Conduct plan and specification reviews, identifying risk areas
- Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
- Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and supervision
- Perform quantity calculations and determine the percentage of completed/installed materials and work
- Prepare work plans and work packages
- Assist in field surveying and work layout support
- Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets
- Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, and safety training
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents
- Conduct basic engineering calculations and technical drafting
- Gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to various stakeholders
- Prepare purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing
- Maintain and update project schedules
- Enter data into the job cost system and review cost reports with jobsite management
- Generate change orders and as-built data for review
- Assist with estimating, forecasting, and managing craft install unit rates
- Manage earned value, schedule, change management, and cost metrics
- Coordinate construction equipment to ensure adequate inventory
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of construction field experience
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to travel
- Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies in engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates and environments
- Highly motivated with a passion for excellence and initiative
- Strong work ethic and commitment to ethics and integrity
- Passion for safety and ensuring a safe work environment
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines and objectives
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills

Annual Salary Range: $75k - $100k
