Position Title: Executive Director, Preconstruction

Position Overview:
Our client is a leading player in the renewable energy industry, focused on owning and operating renewable energy projects across the United States. With a portfolio that includes more than 75 utility-scale renewable projects spread across 24 states, and over 10 GW of contracted capacity, they are expanding and seeking a talented and highly motivated Executive Director of Preconstruction to join their team. This key leadership role will involve overseeing all phases of preconstruction for renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project goals. You will work closely with internal teams to secure new project opportunities, optimize existing portfolios, and manage the budgeting, forecasting, and cost estimation processes. Your efforts will be critical in driving successful and profitable project delivery while maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all preconstruction activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives and project goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to secure project opportunities in new solar, energy storage systems (BESS), and wind development.
- Optimize existing portfolios by exploring surplus and repowering strategies.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost estimation for prospective projects, ensuring accurate and competitive proposals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and other external stakeholders to ensure competitive project delivery.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in preconstruction activities to enhance profitability and project execution.
- Provide executive-level reporting and insights on market trends, cost structures, and project performance.
- Ensure preconstruction efforts align with overall company goals and collaborate with other department leaders to maintain cohesion across functions.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in preconstruction or related fields, ideally in renewable energy or large infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and delivering successful projects.
- Expertise in construction methodologies, budgeting, risk management, cost estimating, scheduling, and value engineering.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and other relevant tools.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and maintain a high level of motivation in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly with solar, energy storage (BESS), and wind projects, is a plus.
- Familiarity with the latest industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements in energy development.
