Position Overview:
Our client, a well-established electrical contracting company known for large-scale, complex specialty projects, is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to oversee heavy civil and structural operations on projects that integrate both electrical and civil work. This role will involve managing daily field operations, leading teams of foremen and craft workers, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects from start to finish. The Civil Superintendent will also be responsible for maintaining project schedules, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with all project specifications. This position will be based out of the South Plainfield, NJ office, with travel required to job sites in Northern Maryland in addition to the primary location in Bronx, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee both electrical and civil operations, ensuring effective integration and coordination between disciplines.
• Approve labor rates and manage workforce distribution to ensure efficient utilization of foremen, journeymen, and laborers.
• Lead contract administration and communication meetings with subcontractors and field management teams focused on civil and electrical coordination.
• Monitor job cost updates and ensure civil and electrical scopes of work are completed within budget.
• Review, approve, and negotiate change orders for both civil and electrical work.
• Perform performance evaluations for direct reports and recommend staffing adjustments as needed.
• Prepare estimates for civil scope of work, including reviewing construction documents, interpreting RFPs, and collaborating with the estimating team.
• Develop project schedules and complete material takeoffs for accurate project proposals.
• Ensure all subcontracts and material quotes are issued and pricing is aligned with the project's scope.
• Establish labor wages and unit rates for specific tasks and ensure accurate labor allocation.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of construction and estimating experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or Superintendent role, focusing on heavy civil and electrical projects.
• Experience working with NYC Agencies (MTA, PANYNJ, DOT, NYCT, LIRR, Amtrak) is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage both civil and electrical operations, ensuring smooth coordination between teams on-site.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project demands.
• Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams across multiple disciplines.
• Expertise in safety, contract administration, planning, and negotiation specific to heavy civil construction.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $195,000 annually
