Position: Electrical Engineer

Overview: A consulting firm is seeking an electrical engineer with 5-10 years of experience for design and analysis projects in various commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. The candidate will join an established team to serve a diverse range of clients and facility types. The role involves leveraging existing technical knowledge while learning the firm's standards to deliver high-quality projects.
Qualifications:
- Degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Background in power system analysis, electrical machines, and/or industrial control systems
- Proficiency in computer skills, including AutoCAD/Revit and modeling
- Strong critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and time management abilities
- Capability to work independently and research design issues
- FE exam completion preferred but not mandatory at the time of hire
- Eagerness to learn and grow professionally
- Eligibility to work in the US without current or future sponsorship
Experience:
- Project design and installation in industrial facilities
- Experience in food and beverage plant projects is a plus
- Design of industrial power distribution systems from 120V to 15kV
- Development of electrical construction packages, including AutoCAD drawings and specifications
- Coordination with other trades such as mechanical, plumbing, process, architectural, and structural
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with lead engineers and design specialists on project-specific teams
- Plan and execute all aspects of the design process according to firm standards
- Conduct field visits to assess existing conditions and meet with contractors and code officials
- Meet with clients to determine project scope and equipment preferences
- Select equipment using manufacturers' information
- Prepare designs and details using 3D AutoCAD
- Edit technical specifications and prepare construction cost estimates
- Stay informed on electrical code issues and construction methods
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate deliverables
- Review designs with client representatives
- Perform construction administration, including answering contractor questions and conducting field visits
- Develop concepts, designs, and analyses for projects, including:
- Power distribution systems for various buildings, including new and retrofit projects
- Lighting design for interior, site, high-bay, exit, and emergency lighting systems
- Communications, data, and miscellaneous building systems (e.g., fire alarm, PA, intercom, telephone, data)
- Building and industrial control systems
