Job Description:
Position: Director (or Sr. Manager), Application Engineering
Responsibilities:
- Engage with prospective customers to identify their pain points and develop proposal-grade technical designs and documents in response to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and demonstrations for both internal and external audiences.
- Serve as the technical point of contact internally and externally, articulating how the proposed solutions can be utilized in required applications.
- Lead capital and operational cost estimating, contract structuring, use-case analysis, and financial optimization of battery energy storage systems.
- Specify appropriate system components, calculate component ratings and quantities, and create detailed bills of material for energy storage and BESS+EV charger projects.
- Adhere to procedures, tools, and best practices to support the technical pre-sales organization and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Gather and communicate regional and global industry best practices and maintain a competitive analysis for leading battery technologies and companies.
- Manage priorities effectively and adapt as the company undergoes significant growth, requiring teamwork, excellent communication, and individual contributions.
- Assist with drawings, product manuals, and data sheets as needed.
- Collaborate with key internal business unit stakeholders, including Sales, Engineering, Legal, and Project Execution, and work with various third-party consultants and firms to support projects.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an understanding of contract language.
- Bachelor's degree in Energy, Power, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in grid-scale energy storage in an engineering or sales engineering role.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while also working independently.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrochemistry, mechanics, and heat transfer; experience with LFP and/or NMC batteries is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze, design, and resolve complex engineering issues.
- Capability to lead and motivate a team while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel as required.
