Position Summary
The Director will build and maintain client relationships, respond to RFPs, and present for potential projects. They will address project issues, serve as the primary client contact, and oversee project coordination, execution, budget, and staff management.
This role offers a path to VP/Department Head with significant bonus/profit-sharing and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in our Voorhees, NJ office.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor the team, ensuring cross-discipline coordination.
- Oversee technical quality and QA/QC processes, documenting reviews.
- Supervise direct reports and assigned engineers, holding necessary meetings.
- Maintain project deadlines and manpower assignments with management staff.
- Develop bid proposals, contracts, and cost estimates.
- Provide engineering expertise and problem-solving in designs and specifications.
- Ensure projects are on time and within budget, adjusting resources as needed.
- Maintain excellent client relationships with high responsiveness.
- Collaborate with other Department Directors for efficient operations.
- Hire, train, and mentor engineering staff with VP and President.
- Write performance appraisals and mediate issues.
- Ensure accurate project accounting and compliance with protocols.
- Maintain department budget and revenue projections.
- Support department marketing efforts.
Requirements
- Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection).
- Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical/IT systems design.
- Strong project management skills.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes (NFPA, Joint Meeting, FGI, AHJ).
- Experience with load analysis and energy modeling programs (eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, Carrier HAP).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Familiarity with USGBC LEED standards is a plus.
- Excellent time management and financial management skills.
- Ability to manage projects, resources, and prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication, training, and mentoring skills.
Education and Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 15+ years of progressive engineering and managerial experience in critical care facilities and laboratories.
- Experience managing a multi-disciplined team of MEP engineers and designers.
