Job Opportunity: Design Engineer
Location: Northern Virginia or Baltimore, MD
Our client, a forward-thinking engineering firm, is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in either Northern Virginia or Baltimore, MD. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of water-related projects, from preliminary studies through design and construction. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and resiliency planners, including a global team of experienced professionals, to develop sustainable solutions for urban and rural communities addressing climate change and water infrastructure needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a variety of water resources projects, including site planning and design, water distribution and storage, sanitary and storm sewer conveyance, combined sewer overflow control, stormwater management, green infrastructure, and flood resiliency, floodplain restoration, and flood control.
- Perform field investigations and alternatives analysis under the guidance of senior engineers and subject matter experts.
- Prepare designs, engineering calculations, and cost estimations, and collaborate with the project team to deliver final project deliverables and contract documents.
- Develop written technical reports and present findings to various audiences, strengthening technical and communication skills while expanding your professional network with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2+ years of relevant engineering/design experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- NYS Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, ability to manage time efficiently, and adaptability to work on diverse projects.
- Ability to work both remotely and collaboratively with project teams.
