Position Overview: The leader of this role will direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team focused on ensuring the reliable operation of real-time software applications, EMS systems, and the design of Generation, Transmission, and Substation protection schemes. This includes overseeing the calculation of protection settings, promoting safe operations, and implementing the company's System Protection and OT philosophy. The role involves managing capital projects, ensuring compliance with federal and state standards, and fostering team development. The leader will be responsible for driving continuous improvement and ensuring operational excellence while managing budgets and project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of real-time software systems and development of system protection designs for generation and transmission systems.
- Ensure high availability and compliance with NERC CIP and reliability standards for OT applications.
- Oversee project staffing, execution, and alignment with goals, budgets, and schedules.
- Collaborate with Operations teams on technical support, change management, and operational oversight.
- Monitor and verify compliance with applicable NERC standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop processes, standards, and workflows for system protection and OT.
- Lead the development and implementation of departmental budgets, contracts, and performance goals.
- Foster cross-functional coordination and effective communication across teams to meet project goals.
- Manage and develop team performance through recruitment, training, and recognition.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
- 12+ years in electric utility and EMS/OT systems, ideally with at least a few years in system protection and 3 years in leadership.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EMS management tools.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of team development and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of NERC, OSHA, and safety standards.
- Experience with software such as SEL AcSELerator, GE URPC, and fault analysis tools.
