Job Summary: The Design Manager, Electrical will be responsible for leading the design and development of electrical systems for new and existing data centers. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, data center infrastructure, and the ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electrical systems, including MV/LV power distribution, backup power, earthing and lightning protection systems, load balancing, lighting, and emergency lighting.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external consultants to develop and update data center designs, from feasibility studies to detailed design and construction documents.
- Equipment Selection: Select and procure electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and performance requirements.
- Technical Reviews: Conduct technical design reviews and provide proposals for innovative solutions to enhance data center efficiency and sustainability.
- Commissioning: Review commissioning scripts and witness key commissioning tests on-site to ensure all systems operate as intended.
- Documentation: Maintain and update internal design specifications, drawings, and standards, incorporating lessons learned from previous projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mission-critical design, particularly in data centers.
- Strong knowledge of electrical infrastructure systems, including EHT transformers, switchgear, UPS, and standby generators.
- Experience with fast-track design/build projects and significant upgrade projects.
- Proficiency in electrical power load flow, fault analysis, and protection systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with renewable energy systems and their integration into data center power distribution.
- Familiarity with international electrical codes and standards.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
