Position: Construction Engineer
Job Responsibilities: As a Construction Engineer, you will lead construction projects for roadway, interchange, and bridge developments following LADOTD and local agency standards. Responsibilities include:
- Applying LADOTD Construction Manuals, LADOTD Standard Plans, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
- Implementing and monitoring Work Zone Traffic Control plans (WZTC/MPT).
- Performing civil engineering cost estimates.
- Communicating and coordinating effectively with project team members, mentoring junior civil engineers, and collaborating with other disciplines.
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with quality control and assurance procedures.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and special requirements.
- Managing the preparation of Daily Inspection Reports to document work progress and project information.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and proficient in verbal and written communications.
- Five or more years of relevant experience in construction engineering.
- Experience in highway and/or bridge reconstruction projects, including asphalt and concrete pavements, drainage systems, roadway lighting, traffic signals, utility protection/relocation, pavement markings/striping, concrete & steel demolition, repair of reinforced concrete and structural steel, steel erection, construction of reinforced concrete decks, retaining walls, and substructure units.
- Familiarity with LADOTD projects and SiteManager experience preferred.
- Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment.
