Overview
An established civil engineering firm is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to take on leadership and technical responsibilities in designing and managing land development projects in Pennsylvania. This role involves performing grading and drainage designs, overseeing support staff, and ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers using AutoCAD to deliver high-quality results.
Responsibilities
-Analyze zoning codes, land development regulations, and agency guidelines to determine site-specific opportunities and constraints.
-Conduct site assessments and due diligence by reviewing regulations, researching utilities, coordinating with outside agencies, and visiting sites to establish design parameters.
-Develop conceptual layouts that align with client objectives and site constraints, working closely with drafting staff to refine plans.
-Lead the design of stormwater management systems and conveyance networks, employing advanced tools for hydrology and hydraulics analysis.
-Perform calculations for stormwater systems, including flow capacity, runoff characteristics, and pipe sizing, using standard engineering methods.
-Apply knowledge of local and regional regulations to meet compliance requirements for stormwater and environmental standards.
-Design grading plans to balance earthwork, promote site safety, and enhance cost efficiency.
-Prepare layouts for subdivisions, site plans, and utility systems, ensuring conflicts are resolved between various infrastructure elements.
-Create soil erosion and sediment control plans, including implementing best practices and construction sequencing to minimize environmental impact.
-Generate construction cost estimates for budgeting and bonding purposes.
-Manage projects independently while mentoring junior engineers and fostering teamwork.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
-6+ years of professional experience in civil land development, with expertise in both residential and commercial projects.
-Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is a strong asset.
-Solid understanding of Pennsylvania land development and zoning processes, including municipal and state requirements.
-Exceptional technical skills in stormwater management, hydrology, grading, and site design.
-Proficient in Civil 3D, with the ability to develop complete site designs and assist team members in improving their skills.
-Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical abilities.
-Able to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
-Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
