We have a current opportunity for a Bridge Engineer-Inspection Team Leader on a permanent basis.
This engineer will supervise and perform structural inspections on bridges and ancillary structures, serving as the Team Leader. The Team Leader is responsible for leading inspection teams and assisting in the successful completion of inspection/design projects as well as act as the Project Manager on moderately complex inspection projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform difficult engineering computations and estimates in designing engineering projects.
- Prepare engineering plans or reports.
Coach field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
Make independent decisions within a general framework.
Responsible for difficult engineering projects in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
Supervise above water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection, and evaluations.
Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on field and/or design issues or adaptations.
Prepare and monitor project budgets and assist in proposal preparation.
Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
Direct and supervise the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 3 to 6 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.
Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) required
Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to attain within 6 months preferred

Valid driver's license
