About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated BESS Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of battery energy storage solutions across our renewable energy projects. This position requires a deep understanding of energy storage technologies, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the technical design and engineering of BESS solutions for solar and wind projects.
- Perform feasibility analyses, including site evaluations, technology assessments, and financial modelling for BESS initiatives.
- Create use cases and evaluate degradation for various asset scenarios.
- Work with EPCO to address sub synchronous resonance, harmonics, and reactive power management.
- Partner with project managers, developers, and engineering teams to ensure smooth integration of BESS into renewable energy projects.
- Develop and refine control strategies for BESS, including energy management systems (EMS) and grid interaction.
- Supervise the installation, commissioning, and testing of BESS systems to ensure they meet technical specifications and safety standards.
- Track and analyze the performance of BESS installations, providing insights for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to energy storage.
- Offer technical support and expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, documentation, and presentations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Ensure all BESS projects comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused on battery energy storage systems.
- In-depth knowledge of BESS technologies, grid integration, and renewable energy systems.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale energy projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Japanese is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
