Title: Aviation Project Engineer
Salary: $100,000 - $140,000

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design and construction management for airport projects including extension and reconstruction of runways, taxiways, and aprons; fuel systems; vertical infrastructure including hangars and AD buildings; NAVAIDS; etc. Other duties include management of budget and schedule for assigned airport projects as well as assisting with marketing future clients. You will also serve as a client contact to airport boards at assigned airport clients.

This position will report to the Aviation Group Manager and work with the Aviation Business Development Manager to develop and implement a marketing plan. The ideal candidate will possess a high capacity for self-motivation and be able to manage and coordinate with staff and subconsultants from other offices.
What You Will Be Doing
- Responsible for the work of other engineers and technicians; plans and organizes airport project assignments.
- Serve as a client contact to airport boards/commissions and airport clients as assigned.
- Review and/or prepare preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
- Develop, coordinate, and review the final design and preparation of plans and specifications.
- Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or modification and repairs to clients, contractors, and other staff members.
- Responsible for the management planning, scheduling, and performance of multiple engineering projects and personnel, both design and construction.
- Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and reports.
- Perform effective technical writing and correspondence.
- Perform business development activities (client needs, research, proposals, etc.).
- Coordinate construction administration and monitor documentation requirements with field staff.
- Apply broad understanding of civil engineering and other fields to reach innovative and interdependent solutions.
- Assist with the training and development of professional and technical staff.
- Develop relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Travel periodically to work sites and other project-related locations.
What We Are Looking For
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Iowa.
- A minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in the civil engineering field is preferred, with aviation engineering project experience included.
- Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars.
- Experience in plan development and construction contract administration.
- Proven ability to lead the design and preparation of construction documents for projects.
- Project delivery experience working directly with airport clients.
